With temperatures dropping and the holidays right around the corner, this is the perfect time for a family movie night. What better way to spend it than watching some of the best classic films of all time. Here are a few films that everyone in the family will enjoy watching and might add to their favorite movie list.

Karate Kid (1984)

Having moved from Newark, NJ, to Los Angeles, CA, teenager Daniel LaRusso is having difficulty fitting in. When he befriends a high school cheerleader, her ex-boyfriend uses his black-belt martial arts skills to bully him into staying away. Mr. Miyagi, a reclusive man who shows a higher level of skill than the teenage boys, agrees to teach Daniel the true art of karate and enter him in a tournament in an attempt to get the other boys to leave him alone. Over the course of his training, Daniel discovers strength and inner peace he never knew he had.

The Secret Lives of Bees (2008)

While trying to learn more about her late mother’s life, who died in front of her baby girl, Lily Owens travels to a small town to the Boatwright sisters, who sell a special brand of honey. While living with them, she learns about the mother she never knew and about herself while dealing with the blatant racism that plagues the area and an alcoholic father with whom she has a problematic relationship.

Jurassic Park (1993)

The first installment of one of Hollywood’s highest-grossing franchises, this movie follows paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant and paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler as they travel to the remote island owned by John Hammons, where he has created a theme park geared around cloned dinosaurs. What starts as a wondrous experience turns into a nightmare as problems arise and they are forced to fight for their very survival.

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)

This movie is a testament to the animal spirit and bond that is built between humans and pet. After being left behind with a family friend by their owners while they work on preparing their new home across the country, three furry friends (dogs Shadow, Chance, and kitty Sassy) must brave the elements and wildlife of the wilderness as they make their way home by following their animal instincts. There are times when watchers won’t hold back the laughter or tears with this family-friendly movie.
